Norwegian Lotus User Group: What Ed said

Ed Brill is always exciting as keynote speaker, this time he gave us an updated overview of the Lotus family at a strategic level - not too interesting for geeks maybe, but OK.

The most interesting part is always where he (maybe) hints on what is to come in the close future. It's important to emphasize that this is what I think I heard, and not necessarily what mr. Brill actually said :)

* Lotus Notes sales is still increasing, despite the financial crisis
* Lotus Foundations Branch office will support deployment of Lotus Foundations Start as branch office solution for organizations with existing Lotus Domino infrastructure at head office.
* The widget for the Linked-In network will be released in a very close future

* Notes 8.5.1 is planned for the end of Q3 and will have several new or features:
- Catalog: Plug-ins for end users
- New Eclipse-based editors for LotusScript and Java
- Faster XPages
- plus a zillion bug fixes I guess

* LOTUS TRAVELER 8.5.1
- Early beta out 15/5 on Lotus Greenhouse
- Lots of improvements for the iPhone version

* LOTUS SYMPHONY:
- Version 1.3 ships in Q2 2009
- supports the new file formats for Office 2007
- Enhanced lotusscript APIs
- Version 2.0 planned for 1H 2010
- Will be based on Open Office 3.0

LOTUS 9.0
- Improve Search -Total Recall; simplified way of finding things more easily
- Group Calendar
- Intelligent subscription of feeds within mail inbox
- Work with others more seamlessly – Contacts and Mail Federation
